Roberta Roth prides herself on NOT being like most therapists. Her philosophy has always been NOT to dwell in the past (since you cant change that).
Her belief in helping clients get better through brief therapy, rather than keeping them dependent on her for years, has helped her to empower hundreds of her private patients.
Through the combination of Cognitive- Behavioral therapy (if you change the way you think, you can change the way you feel) and a strong belief in partnering with clients to solve problems through Strategic Therapy (creating strategies and problem solving) she has been incredibly successful.
Roberta likes to say Give me a motivated client, and we can create miracles! Her counseling skills have improved interpersonal dynamics and communications for hundreds of individuals and families.
Her ability to put herself in her clients shoes gives her a unique vantage point of empathy and objectivity that helps her to identify patterns in peoples live that just arent working. Together, with her client, they are able to clearly see the pitfalls of repeated maladaptive behavior, so they can make changes together. Her goal is to help people by initially allowing them to lean on her, and then lets them soar on their own.
Talking is the key. She is a therapist that talks, teaches and explains. Without talking to your clients and coming up with hypothesis that you see (and they need to verify), you can keep people imprisoned in treatment for years - and that is not her goal. A happy and satisfied client will get better and refer people and that is how she has built an important and satisfying practice for both herself and her many clients.
She often prides herself on saying, I am in the business of change. And change is what people want. Whether she is doing therapy, lecturing or writing, Roberta has a can do approach that is infectious and highly effective.
Roberta has been my lifesaver. My time spent with her has been very meaningful and important. Its refreshing to be with someone who is always positive. I can not express how thankful I am for all her help. - John B. Entrepreneur and business owner.

Roberta the Grandmother, Mother & Wife
Roberta has been married 39 years and has 2 adult daughters, 34 and 30 plus a granddaughter 3 and a 2 year old grandson.
A good deal of the work she does is based on her own experience-
Being a mother in the 1970s was a labor of love, but admittedly Roberta felt that she was often flying by the seat of her pants. Since she was not a therapist when her children were young, she made a lot of mistakes parents make today, so it makes it EASY for her to understand them, giving her a unique vantage point.
Although her daughters turned out to be lovely young women, she now coaches hundreds of families on the right way to bring up kids. You can often hear her say to her clients and lecture attendees, this is my gift to you,
Her knowledge comes from a combination of lecturing and trying different strategies with clients over the years- and she has embraced the techniques that work.
Her challenge today is to enjoy her grandchildren, which she does, without telling her children what to do!
Her 39 year marriage has been so successful, that she uses it as a model for couples counseling and to help clients deal with relationships in general. She often says that the secret of marriage is giving 90% and expecting maybe 10%.
Sharing your life experiences and your family stories with me has helped me so much in my recovery. Thank you for all your caring, your knowledge and for just being you. -Alicia D., homemaker
